Summer Scheme

Summer Scheme Success

During the first two weeks of August, the Museum Services ran yet another successful summer scheme for children. This was held at the Barn Museum in Tannaghmore Gardens, Lurgan. The children with the supervision of professional artists took part in a variety of arts and crafts with their inspiration coming from the animal farm, the beautiful gardens and the museum’s displays. Some of the work that was carried out is now on display in the Barn Museum on Sunday afternoons from 2 to 5pm.

Master McGrath Festival, Lurgan

From the 9th to 13th of August we presented two exhibitions – one depicting Lurgan in the 1950’s and the other celebrating the 350th anniversary of the founding in Lurgan of the first Quaker community in Ireland. Both exhibitions were hosted by Lurgan library and extremely well received by members of the public.

Tannaghmore Gardens Bird Fair

This year is the 10th anniversary of the Bird fair at Tannaghmore Gardens, Lurgan, it was held on Saturday 28th August and once again the Barn Museum made a significant contribution. The museum played a focal point for demonstrations of traditional crafts including blacksmithing, weaving, butter making and bread making with the traditional food stalls, as usual doing a roaring trade.
